about-2

this is life. is written and photographed by robyn michelle-lee.

a documentary of lifestyle in words, and in photographs. every, single, day is documented. poetic prose in the third person, with simple imagery in soft tones.

at the moment, robyn and her husband live in vancouver, canada. they have also lived in edinburgh, uk and have dreams of soon moving to paris, france. some of their other dreams may bring their lives to tokyo or new york, and their travels will certainly take them all over the earth.

she is a professional photographer, but she also writes, and cares for their home. he is brilliant, an engineer, and works in yaletown where they like to meet for sushi.

their everyday life is a beautiful experience. what others may call mundane, they call celebration.
their life is slow, rich in moments. this is a story of yoga, of romance, of dinner parties, of local boutiques, of art, of intimacy, of travels, of fashion, of dreaming. this is life.

at this time, they have chosen not to have public comments. they prefer to write and photograph this story for themselves, with vulnerability. still, they have invited you to read and be inspired.

the color that she is drawn to is white, and it's various tonal compliments, cream and ivory and shell and porcelain and bone and milk, because it is pure and elegant, it is clean. the color that he is drawn to is black -- mysterious, stark, sexy, deep, sophisticated, passionate, polished.

the hot beverage he most prefers is a homemade latte, from his italian stove-top espresso maker, enjoyed at dawn; the beans a dark roasted indian malabar, with scottish whole milk, a sprinkling of raw sugar and a touch of vanilla. the hot beverage she most prefers is a steaming cup of spicy chai tea from the local middle eastern restaurant, sitting on the cushions in the back on a cool, rainy evening.

on a saturday morning, she can be found in an outdoor market, in dark skinny jeans and a white trench coat, carrying a bundle of fresh cut flowers wrapped in brown paper, sampling local cheeses and choosing produce. on a saturday afternoon, she can be found enjoying lunch at a small, unknown bistro, sipping wine and sharing conversation. on a saturday evening, she can be found with him. on a saturday morning, he can be found inside his favorite cafe, the french one with the eclectic antique chairs and the perfect pains au chocolat. on a saturday afternoon, he can be found watching foreign, thought-provoking films. on a saturday evening, he can be found with her.

the drink in a stemmed glass that he prefers is a rich port whose grapes have been stomped by feet. the drink in a stemmed glass that she prefers is a flute of champagne, light and bubbly with aromas of fresh bread, or even a sparkling glass of elderflower water.

were annie leibovitz to photograph her it would be a scene in a morrocan dessert, with flowing white fabric, rich jewels and a babe at her breast. were annie leibovitz to photograph him it would be a scene of an espresso, a scarf, an outdoor cafe table on a cobblestoned street in paris and a philosophical novel.
